Description:
The Senior Engineer will provide Engineering leadership and support to our 1 million square foot facility in Greeneville, Tennessee. Involvement will be required in all departments of the facility with projects being assigned in warehousing, material handling, distribution, paper converting, printing and packaging.
This individual will play a key role in identifying opportunities to improve productivity, cost effectiveness, safety and quality.
Duties and Responsibilities:
* Lead efforts to address new/changing business challenges by developing appropriate recommendations regarding layout options, equipment requirements, and staffing.
* Lead the research and evaluation of technical advances in appropriate areas
* Lead efforts to identify continuous improvement opportunities in the areas of safety, quality, on-time performance, and cost out.
* Manage capital projects from development of project specifications and justification, quotation requests, vendor selection, through project implementation, installation and start-up.
* Lead project teams as well as be a team member on local teams, as well as those originating in other facilities.
* Lead capacity, quality, and process improvement
* Investigate, gather, and analyze data to support fact-based decision making for plant-level and corporate initiatives.
* Provide engineering support to internal departments to ensure the proper equipment, materials, layout, methods, and labor utilization tools are available to allow them to operate as efficiently as possible.
* Provide labor management guidance/assistance through knowledge of work measurement techniques.
Experience:
* Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Electrical, or Manufacturing Engineering
* Minimum of 5 years engineering experience in a manufacturing environment
* Experience with capital expenditure justification
* Proven ability to lead projects and accept accountability for project progress
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
* Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, that are timely and professional
* Experience presenting and communicating with all levels within the organization
* Self-motivated and capable of effectively managing multiple activities
* Demonstrated ability to work independently and with others
* Ability to travel as project requirements dictate
* Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications including Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project, Outlook, and Access.
* Proficient Experience with AutoCAD
* Work measurement techniques a plus
* Knowledge of 5S, Six Sigma, TPM, and Lean a plus
