Jobing Description

Please note this position is located in Athens, TN and will report to a manager that in Atlanta, GA.

Responsible for the operation and efficiency of the methane recovery Landfill Gas (LFG) plant including the landfill gas collection system and pipeline, Coordinates and supervises all operations and activities at the LFG Plant (which is a 24/7/365 operation) in accordance with Company objectives and policies to provide reliable and dependable service while economizing necessary expenditures. Responsible for ensuring budgets are developed and followed as well as plant objectives are met. Responsible for supervising, directing and monitoring the day-to-day activities of the LFG plant including the supervision of up to 3 technicians. Responsible for all production and maintenance activities and the upkeep of the LFG facility. Ensures state and federal regulations, as well as Company policies and guidelines are followed at the LFG plant. Fosters a team atmosphere within the LFG plant and develops each employee.

The Plant Superintendent must have mechanical skills training and be willing and able to provide hands on repair/maintenance service as required. This position will also be responsible for providing routine update reports to upper management and clients. The Plant Superintendent must have strong communication skills to include directing a staff of two to three technicians as well as fostering positive relationships with the landfill owner/operator, local community members and civic leaders.

The Plant Manager will be required to evaluate and troubleshoot the gas collection system and processing equipment as necessary, as well as work with Keystone management to develop and implement temporary and permanent solutions to operational challenges. The gas collection system is outdoors and will require year-round monitoring and maintenance. This position is also responsible for facility environmental compliance and reporting, health and safety, inventory, and production reporting.

The Plant Manager will be responsible for the day-to-day management of other project staff at the site and participate in a 24/7 on-call response system on a rotating schedule with other on-site project staff.
This role is also an ideal developmental role for a mid-level engineer to develop leadership and management acumen in an environment that requires a self-starter.

Functional Expertise:

* Must have strong troubleshooting and repair of mechanical equipment in a gaseous and liquid environment. Experience in operating distributed control systems strongly desired. Must be able to implement operational changes to continue the future adherence to any regulatory standard. Must have a thorough knowledge of the plants control system and how it relates to the equipment. Must possess an excellent mechanical and electrical aptitude and a through knowledge of plants mechanical, electrical, and electronic systems and capabilities. Must possess the ability and knowledge to successfully carry out all of the Critical Success Factors required of a LFG Technician.
* Must possess the technical skills required to understand, develop, and recommend corrective measures to the different Gas Control System and LFG processing plant processes and equipment ensuring plant obligations are continually met. Must possess knowledge on the fundamentals of the relationship of gas flow and pressure and how it relates to the operational and mechanical aspects of the plants. Must possess the skills required to analyze, recommend, and initiate corrective measures when equipment or system malfunctions occur.

* Must be creative and innovative in problem resolution and in designing or modifying goals, policies and procedures set for the plant ensuring the needs of the Company, its employees and ultimately the customers are achieved.
* Must possess the ability to operate within budgetary constraints. Must possess the ability to plan, organize and monitor construction, operations and maintenance activities at the Company s LFG plant and ensure such activities are completed within a time frame not detrimental to the successful operation of the plant processes. Must have a good understanding of the operational and maintenance activities required at an LFG facility ensuring timely completion of projects.
* Must be a highly motivated, analytical individual capable of anticipating problems, developing solutions, and recommending innovative ideas and procedures. Must have ability to apply knowledge on a technical and conceptual level in order to achieve plant operational goals and objectives. Must possess the ability to remain calm in stressful and/or emergency situations in order to make logical and accurate decisions to maintain plant integrity and employee safety.

* Must communicate effectively, both written and verbal, with all levels of employees in a professional and courteous manner, with tact and diplomacy, resulting in the effective transfer of information.
* Must possess the ability to develop, motivate and lead plant employees at the LFG plant to ensure these plants function properly to produce Company objectives. Must have a proven track record of building rapport among peers, superiors, and subordinates while leading by example. Must demonstrate good interpersonal skills to gain cooperation and develop teamwork. Must have strong work ethic.

Driving Results

* Driving results through performance management of LNG Plant staff including setting expectations against established safety, quality and productivity metrics, providing feedback and managing performance gaps.
* Drives operational efficiencies, productivity enhancements and efficient utilization of resources to provide cost effective operation of LNG Operations.
* Ensures process and system changes are implemented as necessary to meet operational requirements and/or comply with regulations (existing or new).

Requirements

Position Requirements: Education,

Certifications/Licenses: Required:

* High school diploma
* Technical Degree (mechanical), or equivalent military training/technical experience

Preferred:

* 4 year college degree in a technical area (Engineering or equivalent)

Related Work Experience:

* Required: At least 5 year experience working on mechanical equipment or in mechanical engineering
* 10 years of relevant experience based on the above job description

Preferred:

* Experience with landfill gas collection systems
* Experience with LFG processing
* Natural gas pipeline experience including operation and repair. Specific

Skills & Knowledge: Required:

* Strong work ethic and safety culture

* Hands on mechanical repair skills (pumps, valves, piping, compression)
* Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and the Internet

* Process operation training
* Gas pipeline O&M training

Safety training Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:

* Typical daytime 8-10 hour shifts covering a period of 6am-6pm
* Rigorous physical work environment including working on active landfill to troubleshoot and repair gas wells, gas headers and leachate removal
* Driving of ATV and truck on and off landfill
* On call 24/7 for plant callouts due to shutdowns, equipment repair or other alarm conditions
* Control room environment to monitor and control plant equipment
* Patrolling pipeline right of way
* Minor pipeline maintenance and OQ tasks.
